Post such comments is not very constructive :-/

What about explain what you did to crash it (to reproduce the crash),
and then report the problem to the devs ?

You can contact us on IRC :

server : irc.freenode.net
channel : #ooo4Kids

Thanks

For production of what ? Please remember this is a children dedicated
software, targeted 7-12 years (not exactly, but you get the idea)

Last but not least, we are just volunteers, not being paid nor helped
to produce that, and we accept donations : http://download.ooo4kids.org/donate/en

Thanks

Perhaps you should consider a slightly modified version for those who
need very simple WP stuff like 85 year olds.

Does the opensource community have something against providing
screenshots of its software? I'd think those developing software for
children would be especially aware of the need for parents and
educators to evaluate the interface early on.

Crashes are random, and yes, each has been reported.

I do understand, but I'm not sure, other than the icons, why it's aimed
toward kids. Operation is exactly like OO, there are so many options,
so many things.

I applaud your efforts, and do hope you can produce something useful.
It's just not for me.

Where ? I can't find a trace of your "reports"

It is scheduled to remove a lot of things, and the time is the issue
there. For further information, see the wiki pages (some are in
french, sorry) :

The Writer toolbars (we'll do the same with all applications very
soon) : http://wiki.ooo4kids.org/index.php/ToolbarWriter/fr

The Calc function assistant : http://wiki.ooo4kids.org/index.php/CalcFunctionsAssistant/fr

The (future, work in progress) : http://wiki.ooo4kids.org/index.php/NewWriterWizard

The important is that we work with teachers, respecting the requests
they do. the process is :

- they ask on the users list
- + they describe the need on the wiki
- if nobody disagrees, we explain what we can do
- the work starts asap (else, it is scheduled in the stack)

Nothing is decided directly by the devs, but with the teachers, who
know well the needs.

The goal is to propose something for 8-9 (cycle 2 in France) , 10-11
(cycle 3 in France) and older. For younger children, we suggest to use
GCompris instead (e.g.).
