Has Open Office 4 Kids been discussed in this group previously?

thus far it will only have been discussed in the future

it has not yet been discussed previously

(though my original intent was to simply post one of my stupid jokes
I see that I have somehow blundered into an actual logically correct
statement)

Just thought I'd give this a bump as it seems so unpopular.

There have been several threads about office or word processing apps that
are rather heavy on resources.

I installed Open Office & AVG Antivirus on an old Acer laptop running XP
Home. with a 400Mhz cpu & 160Mb Ram & gave it to an elderly neighbour who
ran a small office many years ago but has no computer knowledge.

As to be expected the laptop ran quite slowly.

By replacing the full OO & Avg with OOo4kids & Avira it perked up some what.

I suspect this was a combination of both apps using less resources.

Download page - http://wiki.ooo4kids.org/index.php/Download

currently 0.6 (beta)

says suitable for :
Windows XP (W7 reported ok too)
Portable Windows XP
Mac OS X
Linux/Unix - various 32/64 bit

I couldn't get OO for Kids to run for more than five minutes or so
without crashing. Yes, it's still in beta. I wouldn't use it for
production.
