You install it within the time period. It calls home to verify before you can run it. After verification it still calls home every time, but seems to run even if you block the call...at least the UI comes up. If you ever need to reinstall it, you're SOL. If someone figured out the trick to make it install at a later time, it would actually be freeware...and worth the time investment to try it.

If I remove Giveaway.bin from the app directory, the program still works and still attempts to phone home. So, I guess I need to know what you mean by "what would that be..." Also, I downloaded universal extractor 1.6. Tried running it on the install file. Result was: Signature detected: Inno Setup Setup Data (5.3.5) (u) This is not directly supported, but i'll try to unpack it as version 5203 ; Version detected: 5305 Critical error: The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program. Unpacking failed. This version is not supported. So, I guess I need more help on universal extractor too. The objective here is to start with the original downloaded install file and use that or something created from the current installation to recover from a system crash by reinstalling the program after Jan 5. |
