And Apple is doing very well because yours is the minority opinion...

Back in the day when, if you wanted an OS for your 8086, you had to
write it, we built an industrial computer in a "console" that used a
light-pen for input because marketing said that industrial engineers
(our market) couldn't learn to type. It was awful.

ROFLMAO!! I would never buy a BMW because of you're locked into BMW's
drivetrain. I would never have plumbing in my house because I would be
locked to a water supply. I would never own a refrigerator because I
would be locked to the availability of electricity.

How in the hell do you post to Usenet if you live naked in the deep
woods utterly independent of the rest of the world!?

it does.

that would be stupid.

yet you want it to support it??

yes it does.

running an existing universal binary does not mean it's os x or not os
x. however, a lot of mac & iphone apps share code because it's the same
os underneath.

because it makes absolutely no sense. for example, desktop apps assume
a mouse and cursor and there is no mouse or cursor. how do you plan on
using those apps? many apps also assume a larger screen. i don't think
photoshop even runs anymore on a 1024x768 screen.

when apple ported iwork to the ipad, they *rewrote* the user interface.
simply running the existing version would have been stupid.
