Usually not. The majority or vast majority of the time when someone who isn't addressing a MS office/outlook group says 'outlook' they mean OE. In this specific case, it doesn't compute (very well) for the OP to be looking for a 'substitute' for OL, whereas it is/ would be/ exceedingly logical for a new Win7 user to be looking for a substitute for OE, because previous to Win7 since Win95 all v. of windows 'came with' an installed mailagent which was either OE or looked like OE. Win7 doesn't come with the usual OE; why wouldn't a friend be looking for something to 'substitute' for OE? -- Mike Easter

He was looking for how to change away from what his brother already had and still wanted; there was no need to do that. I mistakenly interpreted that he wanted to know what almost every other new to Win7 wants to know; "since my Win7 no longer has the default 'OE' what shall I do about it?" -- Mike Easter
