Go to the Wikipedia and have a read. A "Windows" version is downloadable from here: http://www.dipconsultants.com/evolution/ For my own interest I've just installed it on my Vista 32bit machine and it seems to run fine, don't see why it won't run on a Windows 7 (32bit) machine. To make it look like Outlook's default layout go to the View Menu, Layout and tick all three options (menu, sidebar & statusbar) Did a test send / receive and it worked fine. If you are looking for other alternative mail clients, then this Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_e-mail_clients should give you enough links to keep you busy for while. Best Paul.

It crashed on both platforms. That was with multiple IMAP accounts. Maybe IMAP support's improved or your brother wouldn't need that. Apart from that though, keep in mind that the windows version is compiled by DIP Consutants. That is, it's not a part of the Evolution project itself. (Novell had been financing it but dropped it right around the time they signed an "understanding" w/MS regarding Mono & patent infringement.) Back to the point... If you think your brother is going to need after-install support, you might want to double-check what's out there for him first. hth, -- -Craig
