Well, there is always Preview which isn't all that bad and then there's Automator and Folder Actions... It must be impossible because no one seems to know how to do it. Xee is light years ahead of Preview but doesn't do thumbnails. Using Pathfinder for thumbnails and Xee for viewing and slideshow is pretty good but it would be nice to find a dedicated viewer, or better yet, get iPhoto to do what it ought to do.

So if you want a product that does everything that Irfanview does.. it's not available. That said... if you want thumbnails, try Xsee by Bitcom.

Creating a folder action in Automator with the single action "Import Files into iPhoto" does exactly that. (Unfortunately the Automator action only allows you to create or add to an Album rather than an Event, though.) --- news://freenews.netfront.net/ - complaints: news(a)netfront.net ---

You see them in an iPhoto created "smart" folder. You can't do this because of Apple's native way of indexing. Try it. It can't be done without jumping through all kinds of hoops. How hard can this be? It's pretty simple and something any Windows viewer can do. |
