### - yeah? but they just got through telling us that maybe as much as 30% of the
species currently on this planet will likely become extinct...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8338880.stm

think about it, 30%!!!

iow, barring asteroids, we're currently experiencing 'the' most rapid mass
extinction rate ever! (even then it took around 90,000 years for the dinosaurs
and Co to disappear completely and was considered a mass extinction) but
instead of doing anything about it they've got everyone recycling friggin'
light-bulbs?? (duh! :)

oh well, maybe humanity itself will be one of the species to go (a kind of poetic
justice perhaps?) in which case given a couple million years or so (nothing at all
in the long life of this planet) not a trace of our 'insanity' will remain and
everything will go back to again being absolutely perfect and totally in-harmony
with the rest of the universe...

i.e. basically, we're mad... we don't deserve to survive ;)

perhaps of visible species... 99% of animal species are
micro-organisms that haven't even been identified yet..

so total loss will be like 30/100 X .01 or .003 percent

i thought they wanted us to switch to the mercury-filled ones that
are hard to dispose of in a safe manner...

by the time the planet is inhabitable we will have devised a way
to construct space colonies, more than likely...

who decides what sane is, or not... :/

### - so does this kind of denial actually make you feel better or something??

it's ok folks, all the animals are dying, but don't worry about it, don't even
bother doing anything coz' the microbes will be fine :)

### - what i said, our world is going down the drain, and now for the sake of
using less electricity we're adding 'mercury' to the poisonous concoction that's
killing everything??

### - (i think you meant 'un-inhabitable') don't you think that might just be
taking our 'disposable-society' ethic a mite too far? ;-)

### - well how sensible is it to systematically destroy our own habitat, and call
it progress?

i'd call that pretty insane, wouldn't you?

(if not then you must be insane too :)
