Let's see... Slider says that evil people are destroying the world and thus they deserve to die. Slider says he's helping the evil people destroy the earth so he deserves to die too. But he also the earth wouldn't die if people would all stop helping each other to destroy the earth by changing what they do. But slider, who is still busily helping the destroyers, is not trying to change. He just wants other people to change so that he doesn't have to go to all that trouble himself.

And whoever all those people were who cleaned up the air in Helsinki, they sure as hell weren't people like Slider. They actually did stuff and achieved something concrete. (If they would have been like him, then most probably not only the lichen, but also the trees themselves would have started dying.) HG
