Hmmm, yes. I've Jailbroken mine specifically to change the system sounds,
but that's one I haven't done yet.

Other camera phones I've had *don't* mute the shutter sound when the
phone is silenced, so I was quite surprised when the iPhone did. And
I've never heard the usual outcry about it, either.

Possibly another media-fad-of-the-week that's fallen by the wayside.
