It might be encouraging - but Skype doesn't work very well on the S2,
and the audio distortion almost makes it almost unusable.

And with regards to Skype chats - if you try and delete all the
previous chats they disappear, only to be generated again, time and
time again. Its as thought there is no sync betywene the Skype account
(as viwed on a PC) and the S2. And then the reception of a new chat is
impossible to find in amongst all of the old ones!! This has been
widely reported on the various Skype / S2 forum(s).

I just wanted to post a message asking about these apparently new chats
which are not new every time I switch S2 on. That is interesting but not
good.

No doubt a consequence of the handset not having an nailed up connection
to Skype. If it did, it would mean more data for 3 to give away, not to mention
the impact on battery life.
My opinion is it's better to have a partial implementation of the feature than non at
all.

It's what we radio amateurs might rate as "good comms quality", and
perfectly adequate for a toll-free mobile phone service IMHO

Speech quality is adequate for free calls. I can understand what my wife
wants from me and that is all that matters -:) It is the other things, like
re-appearing skype chats and that skype calls are treated as normal calls
when the mobile is switched off that spoil it. I had to cancel all diverts
so that unanswered skype calls do not finish immediately in the phone's
voicemail and I get a chance to pick them on PC.
