cp slows machine
I've noticed a slowdown in things when setting cp to copy chunks of data. This mostly affects resource hungry stuff like Seamonkey, making things feel as if I've lost a CPU. I'm thinking about sticking a 'nice' parameter in my .bashrc for cp Now is the time to say "Argh! Don't do that!" and\or "Try this.... 17 Dec 2009 18:09

Trouble with Slackware 13.0 Video (mostly resolved) YMMV
The latest Slackware version (13.0) has some nice features, including an updated Firefox, Gimp, qt library, etc. One nice thing is that a Firefox 3.5.x rendering bug that showed up when rendering certain web pages (and was present on certain ATI and nVidia hardware), is now fixed under the latest X. However, ge... 18 Dec 2009 14:58

HOW2 implement a daemon?
I've got a nice system that run 'on top of' linux and which can read/write linux files too. In order to still be able to see the other system's display, instead of switching to linux when I 'run' some simple linux commands I could perhaps eg. 1. write to a 'known special' file: "ls /usr/*" 2. which would, via so... 22 Dec 2009 05:57
