Some days ago Brian announced the 2.8 preorders. Result: some people saw this as another sin from Grafx. Astonishing. Take a look at the post that started this thread. I couldn't believe it. So what: IMO the thing that Grafx have to do is what they are doing right now: work hard for us (who pay the bill) and release Vulcan ASAP (and in the meantime, close their eyes and keep them from reading some posts that say everything of their authors). > I'm not against anything or anyone, I just want to stay with VO :( So do everyone that joined VOPS. The difference is that VOPS members have "put our money where our mouth is". I don't like politicians, but let me put here a very well known sentence from a politician (whose name is irrelevant) and make it up a little: "Don't ask anyone to do something, but ask yourself what you are going to do". -- Carlos Vazquez cva(a)NOSPAMtelefonica.net
From: Ginny Caughey on 25 Sep 2006 12:57 Ding, The way Grafx runs VO, VO is maintained and 2.8 is near release. Please tell the truth - the statement you made is not worthy of you. -- Ginny "TSDing" <dingts(a)pc.jaring.my> wrote in message news:4517f214_2(a)news.tm.net.my... > The way Grafx runs VO, its DEAD. From: Ginny Caughey on 25 Sep 2006 13:09 Carlos, Perhaps it has been said before, but it's certainly worth saying again perhaps with a slightly different emphasis: THE ONLY THING KEEPING VO ALIVE IS VOPS. The revenue that comes from VO sales isn't enough to even consider keeping a dev team around. Fortunately there are enough subscribers to VOPS to assure continued VO development for a while, and since the vast majority of VOPS subscribers are happy, I think it's likely there will be enough money for next year too, so you don't have to worry. ;-) By the way, the "something more" you really need is Vulcan. That's the future, not more lipstick on an aging pig. And the important something that VO 2.8 provides that nobody seems to have emphasized yet is an easier migration path to Vulcan and previous versions of VO. -- Ginny "Carlos Rocha" <carlos.delete.this(a)net-disk.com> wrote in message news:1159197741.583946.236200(a)b28g2000cwb.googlegroups.com... > Ginny, > > I'm sure your intention is good, but this adds nothing to the already > said. From: Jamal on 25 Sep 2006 13:16 Yes, I'll do something! I'll renew my VOPS subscription now! Will you do the same? From: Brian on 25 Sep 2006 14:42 Carlos, While it's disappointing to see these kind of nasty personal posts let me assure you that it is going to take more than a "Political Spin Doctor", and a few unhappy customers who say they have "moved on" (but have plenty of time to make nasty posts) to stop GrafX from continuing what we have been doing every day for the last four years of our lives; improving Visual Objects & continuing the Visual Objects language with Vulcan.NET We've learned a long time ago, that it would be impossible to make everyone happy. What we try to do is, keep focused on our real work, which is, to continue development of both Visual Objects and Vulcan.NET. Those persons who are members of VOPS know first hand the kind of work we are doing because the have the direct result of the work we do on their machines _today_. The other's just speculate. We make NO apologies for the cost of VOPS, it's less money per month then you spend on electricity or gasoline for your car. If your serious professional, you should expect to pay for your tools. I'm certain that each member of the development team is MORE than qualified to work on any project they want, yet they continue to work on Visual Objects, and Vulcan.NET. in spite of this incessant speculative non-sense. It's disappointing and while it makes for a distraction, we have removed the kind of distraction from our VOPS forums, so we can get some software development accomplished. No one wants to visit this public forum and read this drivel. One side goes at the other with a bunch of speculative political propaganda non-sense. The other side reacts because they know better and although they are under NDA, they have positive things to say because they have seen it with their own eyes and have it on their own machines. That's how I see it. I'm out of here, I've got real work to do which includes "ignoring" the spin doctors previous, latest or future posts. All the best, Brian http://www.grafxsoft.com
