NO manufacturer is REQUIRED to knuckle under to the DRM nonsense from RIAA. Case in point! http://www.sandisk.com/products/sansa-music-and-video-players/sandisk- sansa-fuze You copy any files you want to its internal memory or external memory cards and it plays it! Put your music on any SanDisk player, then copy or move it off your player to your girlfriends USB port WITHOUT INSTALLING ANYTHING! Boot her Windows Explorer and you'll see BOTH flash memories as DISK DRIVES on any OS that supports FAT32, which is all of them! You don't HAVE to put up with this iTunes/Apple restrictive bullshit! Put your > music on any SanDisk player, then copy or move it off your player to your > girlfriends USB port WITHOUT INSTALLING ANYTHING! A hierarchichal filesystem is a crappy way to organize music. iTunes lets you organize it by playist, genre, artist, album, etc. -- And let's you copy and organize the copying and managing of same on your iOS device using the same tools. I've had filesystem-based navigation systems on MP3 players before - in fact one of them actually was a Sandisk one (such as you seem so much to love). It stank. When I replaced it with an iPod Nano, organizing and managing my music (and, actually, much more imporantly to me - audiobooks and podcasts) got vastly vastly easier. > Boot her Windows > Explorer and you'll see BOTH flash memories as DISK DRIVES on any OS that > supports FAT32, which is all of them! You realize you're crossposting this to both the iPad newsgroup and the Mac Apps newsgroup. Windows is irrelevant and regarding the iPad, it's vastly more than simply a player for media files. Are you having fun? I hope so, 'cause I'd hate to think all that ranting (and all the ALL-CAPS) is anything more than you laughing at yourself and inviting us all to join in. > You don't HAVE to put up with this iTunes/Apple restrictive > bullshit! Why does it bother you so much that folks like Apple products, even with their sometimes quite annoying restrictions? (I, for one, really can't stand the fact that I cannot copy media to my iPhone from both of my computers. Yes, it's really really freaking annoying. But it's more than made up for by the fact that my iPhone sucks a whole lot less than any other smartphone I've owned or used.) If you hate Apple and Apple products, you might find your time more productively spent in newsgroups not devoted to those products. -- Plain Bread alone for e-mail, thanks. The rest gets trashed.
