I don't use it for sharing files externally -- just between my work computer and my laptop, and occasionally my iPhone or iPad -- but it's been a revelation. If it was an Apple service it would be, um, magical - so good. Several Macs, a PC, an iPhone synced here. Stuart -- cut that out to reply

From what I've seen of the PO operations, it's the posties on the street who are about the only ones not closely monitored in operation, so /as far as I could see/, they've got the best opportunities for theft from the system. The only post I ever sent that was nicked was a cheque sent to Girobank years ago, in the special Girobank envelopes, taken into a post office for what they *claimed* was the high security route: they stamped the envelope seal specially, put it in a special sack for direct delivery to Girobank via a special route (I saw that done) and told me it was `guaranteed' to arrive now. When the cheque didn't arrive, the PO disclaimed all knowledge, said that it was nothing to do with them, that it must have been the bank because it was absolutely impossible for post to go missing on the way to Girobank once I'd put it in the system like, and so on. Girobank's people were a bit surprised, and one called the PO lot `as much use as a chocolate teapot' after having spoken to them trying to figure out what might have gone wrong. Anyway, it was a crossed cheque, no harm done, got another, sorted - but a few weeks later, and that was my student grant, that was, so it was a bit awkward. Since seeing the insides of a sorting office, I concluded that actually those special sacks were probably lower security than the usual routes, because they're not monitored so closely. Post sent to me has often not arrived. Some of recorded delivery - I've seen the dockets and all that stuff to prove, yep, it really does seem to have been sent recorded but went missing in transit. But no post that I've sent by popping it into a letter box without special precautions visible on the outside has gone missing - including letters containing crinkly notes of cash. I've never quite figured all that out. Rowland. P.S. Girbank got taken over by Alliance and Leicester, which had awful customer service. And then A&L got bought by Santander - which has improved things already, wahey! Rescued by the bloody Spanish, whatever next eh? -- Remove the animal for email address: rowland.mcdonnell(a)dog.physics.org Sorry - the spam got to me http://www.mag-uk.org http://www.bmf.co.uk UK biker?
