I am thinking that it was you Beverly who mentioned SeaMonkey for email.
I have that but NOT on my tablet because if you click a link it opens
the SeaMonkey browser and I prefer firefox because of the lefty
scroll-bar app, Gecko .. Is there a way to have ONLY mail and newsgroups
and NOT browser ?

Thunderbird is the email/newsreader engine only

???

....but, a couple of thoghts based on assumptions about that line...

The current (2.x) seamonkey uses the firefox engine

Tools and plugins for firefox generally work within seamonkey

Anyone's "default" browser is easily settable.

With full seamonkey installed, there are settings that control what runs
as well as command line options for shortcuts

Assume the following might be in the Seamonkey 2.x config options...
