I am having the same problem unable to install the KB981715 using Windows7
Home premium 64 bit . I am not running Office 2007 - but the demo version is
loaded on my computer - so it seems to want to add the updates anyway.
Since the update does not install, it seems to block any other updates
(Adobe, iTunes, etc) from happening as well.

Hi thanks for getting back to me - for some reason I didn't get an email
saying you had replied - that's why I took so long to get back to this. The
problem is still there - these two updates just won't install...oh and I
thought it would make sense to post the same problem in the same thread so
others wouldn't have to go looking for your response to my solution
also...sorry about that.

I have Windows 7 Professional Version 6.1 (Build 7600) 64-bit. I am also
running MS Office Ultimate 2007 and the information on MS Outlook is version
"(12.0.6514.5000) SP2 MSO (12.0.6514.1000)".

I did have Trend Micro 2009 - but I completely uninstalled it before loading
MS Security Essentials. However, the subscription to Trend Micro only just
ran out last month (April 2010-I got an email from them saying so). My MS
Security Essentials is completely up to date and was originally loaded on
10/3/2010, I have version 1.0.1961.0 currently installed.

I have checked my PC for any traces of the old AV and none exist. I have
paid a PC person to do that also - and he can't fix it either - appreciate
any help you can render please as this is now getting really frustrating.

Thanks JT

Did you upgrade to Win7 64-bit?

We'd have to rely on your memory (or the computer invoice when you bought
it) to know if a Norton or McAfee free trial came preinstalled on the
computer when you bought it (i.e., prior to upgrading, if you upgraded).

If you can't install either update manually, your only options would be to
run a Repair of Office 2007 or uninstall/reinstall it, Joseph.

MS offers no-charge support for problems associated with security updates
but neither KB981433 nor KB981715 are security updates.
