From: Geoff Schaller on 27 Nov 2009 04:53 Firstly, why are you restricting yourself to 32 bit? Go 64 man! Why waste a good CPU and a good OS by limiting it to 32 bits????? Secondly, turn off UAC. VO requires administrative rights and just thinking you are an administrator is not enough. From: Johan Nel on 27 Nov 2009 05:23 Hi Geoff, Agree, although I quite like the UAC for unwanted baddies. From my experience, it is a good idea when you do need Admin rights not to install in Program Files folder. Had a similar experience with PostgreSQL and once I moved the installation out of Program Files it went running like a charm. Needless to say having your data also in the Program Files structure is pushing the security limits. I believe the same goes for VO when you have a repository/catalog changing all the time and it needs Admin rights in Program Files... Just my 2cents of observations. Johan Nel Pretoria, South Africa. From: Ginny Caughey on 27 Nov 2009 09:26 Geoff, I'm actually leaving UAC on for Windows 7. The only time VO needs admin rights is for building COM servers and for installation, and leaving UAC on helps me catch issues that customers might encounter. -- Ginny Caughey www.wasteworks.com "Geoff Schaller" <geoffx(a)softxwareobjectives.com.au> wrote in message news:skNPm.58002$ze1.8507(a)news-server.bigpond.net.au... > Firstly, why are you restricting yourself to 32 bit? Geoff, Firstly, why 32 bit I had to choose: new mountain bike and 32 bit on my old laptop or new laptop or pc 64 bit and no mountain bike. I choose the mountain bike and 32 bit................... But agree 64 bit is better. I turn off the UAC , the sp3 works fine. (strange that the sp2 can works with UAC on) fine weekend, Johan Kwaspen Belgium "Geoff Schaller" <geoffx(a)softxwareobjectives.com.au> schreef in bericht news:skNPm.58002$ze1.8507(a)news-server.bigpond.net.au... > Firstly, why are you restricting yourself to 32 bit?
