From: Geoff Schaller on 28 Nov 2009 05:27 Johan, This is actually no different to Vista and I am pleased that the culture is changing. In Vista just about everybody in this forum at the time made UAC out to be evil. How nice it is now accepted. To be Vista safe (and therefore... safe!) is to place executable code in Program Files and user data and config files in the public user data area and private-to-the-user data and settings in the User Data folder. It is natural, practical and beneficial. It also requires effort <g>. From: Geoff Schaller on 28 Nov 2009 05:28 Me too, except for installations of SQL Express and tools like that. Then it can be reverted to the default state. From: Geoff Schaller on 28 Nov 2009 05:30 Johan, I don't understand. 32 bit and 64 bit are the same price: both for the processor and the OS. All new processors since about early 2008 are 64 bit. I doubt you can actually buy a 32 bit processor any more. Hence my question. From: Johan Nel on 28 Nov 2009 05:41 Hi Geoff, I agree 100%. I was merely trying to highlight the fact that one needs to look carefully at the installation. Is easy to just accept defaults and then running into troubles like configuration files etc that change a lot with admin rights needed in the folder it is installed. Geoff, My laptop is has a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7250 @ 2.00Ghz and 2,00 GB RAM Win Vista bus 32. By the Update Window7 pro (in the box 2cd's w32 and w64). They have advised me for the 32 bit because older devices have may not equivalent 64-bit drivers. But now I am curious to know if the 64 also works. From 32 to 64 this is format C: h ? regards, Johan Kwaspen Belgium "Geoff Schaller" <geoffx(a)softxwareobjectives.com.au> schreef in bericht news:WY6Qm.58378$ze1.17706(a)news-server.bigpond.net.au... > Johan, > > I don't understand. 32 bit and 64 bit are the same price: both for the > processor and the OS.
