John, I'm not sure what Eindows operating system you run on. I have Win
XP Pro running on a Dell machine, and I removed .NET from it (it had
been installed by ATI...). I discovered that the 'roll-back' facility of
device drivers did not work without it (Dell Driver reset tool). So I
had to grudgingly restore it, as I did not want to do without such a
basic system function.

Summary - the cursed .NET gets deeper than you think (not just 3d party
apps).

I'm running an ABS computer with a 1.9g P4 and XP Home SP3. I don't have
any program or driver installed that requires any version of dotnet.
Guess I'm just lucky.

Oops, very well then. I had thought that CHDK had covered nearly all the
point and shoot Digic II - IV Canon cameras. Apparently they have dumped
the firmware, so maybe its a work being considered at some point?

Ya got me. Yep, there's my camera all right. I got the blue model.

My last camera was a Kodak DX4900. I foolishly updated the firmware and
it cost me several functions. I'll never make that mistake ever again.
