Maybe checks are still in common use in US, but I also live in europe (sweden) and I haven't written any check for the last 20 years. In sweden most payments are done by "giro", a system supported by all swedish bansk. In the old days this was done by going in to a bank office or post office, filling in a form with the amount and account number to pay to and then giving this form and payment at the desk. Today allmost everyone does this by logging in to their banks web page. From there it is not only possible to pay to "giro", but also to other bank accounts, even international bank accounts with IBAN. That said, I still think the most convenient way to do international payments is VISA or any other credit card. I've heard that some banks offer credit card numbers valid for one time only if you are concerned about security. regards Henrik -- The address in the header is only to prevent spam. Actually, checks are _officially_ not in use in the EU. After nobody actually used them, they were completely dropped about two years ago (if I remember the time correctly). K? Have a nice day Franz

Even if their bank were willing to go through the hassles of checking that you aren't a terrorist, it's likely that the fees would be higher than the actual amount. I'd suggest you 1) download it; 2) give some money to somebody with a credit card whom you trust; 3) tell him/her/it to 'buy' donations. Clemens |
