sometimes something goes a bit screwy, maybe a corrupted css file or
whatever... First resort when problems are encountered that persist after
browser restart should be clearing disk cache and then, if still not solved,
history.

Do what I should have done!!
Create a junk/guest user and log onto that. If Firefox is OK then you have a
config problem
