It turns out to be really annoying when driving and using the iPod
shuffle function, I discovered yesterday.

I haven't seen any evidence it was intentional, just that there was a
change in behaviour between iOS 3.1 and iOS 3.2 (which also made it into
iOS 4). It may be an accidentally introduced bug, but I won't know until
Apple responds to my bug report (and it isn't a duplicate of someone
else's bug report).

In my opinion, there isn't anything _useful_ that iOS 4 or iOS 3.2 can
do with double-click from screen off if it doesn't bring up the iPod
controls, so it should behave the same as iOS 3.1.x and earlier.
