That's certainly how it was done when I used to use DOS and CP/M. It's
not what I expect in 2010.

Good because that's not how it's done. The user switches between apps. Apps
are capable of remember their state so when the user switches back to the
browser (for example) - it resumes exactly where the user left off.

You seem to think that this is going to be a big deal for users. Unless
users find this objectionable it's a moot complaint.

I think they'll find it objectionable that they can't read an e-mail
while they're waiting for a web-page to load or have something download
in the background.

Are they locked in to iTunes as well?

it's not something that's done on most computers either.
