I just caught the back end of it on the news again ... they were suggesting that 'Apple had made a clever model, make an easy to use platform and people will buy things to go on it' ... Whilst it's clever I'm sure it's not new, Disney have been doing it for years. ;-) They interviewed a student while he was playing with an iPad. He said he 'wanted one ... want but don't need'. I wouldn't mind having one but I neither want nor need. I reckon my price break would be sub 100. Cheers, T i m

Until they have made enough of them and start price dropping of course. Cheers, T i m

It's hardly something Apple are known for, though. Even if they did drop prices, they're never going to be 100, nor is any 'equivalent' (using the term very loosely). -- SteveH

I was just reflecting, having spent a little time with this device, that I paid almost the same for my iPad as I paid for my first Apple Newton 16 years ago. Given the increase in costs of most other things since 1994, my improved buying power and so on, this is far cheaper to buy now than the Newton was back then. And that's before you compare the functionality of the two devices.
