I put the artists and their instruments in the Comments field, usually prefixed by the date 1955.01.23 and place NYC Bluenote. That way I can sort all my jazz tracks in chronological order. Did this for the CDs I burned for my nephews, had mid 1950s Miles, Monk & Mingus in the order of their performances. Each field (aka id Tags) has a set limit to the number of characters allowed, and I suspect the Album Artist field would allow less characters than the Comments field.

I'd put the group's name in the Artist field, leave Album Artist blank, and put the names of the group's members in the Comments field. The Album Artist field should only be used when the performers aren't the same for every track, and you want the album itself listed under a specific name.

I tried to use comment but I could not figure out how to get a <RET> in. It appears to require one continuous line. Is the comment field searchable?

Use text program if you need returns. I just use a continues string to enter date, place, artists in the comments field. To help you answer your other question is it searchable, enter something unusual in the comments field and then do a search on it. |
