so your can stay fixed even in 1/4" from the palm rest? mine tries slam to

Well at 1/4" the latches are touching
and I have to push it closed.
So from 1/4" - 0" there is no adjustment
But yes I can leave it at 1/4" if I wanted to

So, No Dropping etc. smooth closing all the way down.
