From: Balzer on 15 Feb 2010 07:44 I tried the new Vostro 1502 laptop and noticed that display cover is closed rather hardly, and when display is near 2-inches from the body, it tense and springy and tries to slam very sharply, with sharp knock. So you need be very careful and to keep the fingers between display and housing, otherwise display will knock very sharply. When I closed it first time, i was not very accurate and display slammed very sharply, with sharp knock. Can this damage LCD display?

The answer was the portable has rubber bumpers that should protect the LCD from any damage. Yes, there is 6 small rubber bumpers, but it's very small and flat, and don't look too reliable for protection & shock absorption.
From: Russ SBITS.Biz [SBS-MVP] on 15 Feb 2010 17:09 I'm confused? on what the issue is you using the word hardly? and Knock? So it drops closed when you get 1" away? or it's hard to close? My Laptop closes smoothly all the way to it's latch. And if you are talking about a small gap even when it's closed then YES that is what the rubber pads are for. If it's closing wrong, call them back and tell them it doesn't close smoothly If that person doesn't help. Hang up and call again until you get someone smarter than a crow bar Russ -- Russell Grover - SBITS.Biz [SBS-MVP] MCP, MCPS, MCNPS, SBSC Microsoft Certified Small Business Specialist 24hr SBS Remote Support - www.SBITS.Biz Question or Second Opinion - www.PersonalITConsultant.com Free Trial Microsoft Online Services - www.Microsoft-Online-Services.com "Balzer" <Balzer(a)nospam.microsoft.news> wrote in message news:evcr1lorKHA.4652(a)TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > > "Russ SBITS.Biz [SBS-MVP]" <russ(a)REMOVETHIS.sbits.biz> wrote in message > news:eIhlU5mrKHA.5940(a)TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... >> I agree Call Dell >> I have a Vostro laptop >> and I don't have that issue >> Russ >> >> -- >> Russell Grover - SBITS.Biz [SBS-MVP] >> MCP, MCPS, MCNPS, SBSC >> Microsoft Certified Small Business Specialist >> 24hr SBS Remote Support - www.SBITS.Biz >> Question or Second Opinion - www.PersonalITConsultant.com >> Free Trial Microsoft Online Services - www.Microsoft-Online-Services.com >> >> >> "David B." <mail(a)nomail.net> wrote in message >> news:eQiLxmkrKHA.5036(a)TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... >> > Contact Dell support, your question is not related to Windows XP. >> > >> > -- >> > >> > >> > -- >> > "Balzer" <balzer(a)nospam.microsoft.news> wrote in message >> > news:%23YLXwyjrKHA.3908(a)TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... >> >>I tried the new Vostro 1502 laptop and noticed that display cover is >> >>closed rather hardly, and when display is near 2-inches from the body, > it >> >>tense and springy and tries to slam very sharply, with sharp knock.
