He stores music on it. No point in defraging. IMO, YMMV

But what if you get struck by lightning? (That is why I also make
backups to external drives.)

Is there a significant difference? For example, I have 2 GiB RAM (-64
MiB shared video memory) for WinXP Home SP3.

I know it by name and I have vague knowledge about what it does. Same
question though: what if you get struck by lightning?

| Why would I do that? A second drive costs money and I have enough

| This suits me just fine.

Multi-tasking.

As long as the two drives are not in a master-slave relationship the OS can read/write to
both drives at the same time. You can not do that with a partitioned drive.

Actually, yes.

If you have two physical drives you can place the IE TIF, other browser caches, TEMP files
and Swap File on Drive #2.

| Another reason for creating at least a partition for your OS and programs is
| removing the need to reformat the drive or the danger of losing everything on
| the drive if reinstallation is necessary. You just reinstall (or restore an

| Personally, I find it easier to set up my antivirus program scheduler by

| partitions on my drive.

All those arguments are the same for multiple physical drives except the added performance
benefit.
