it seems weird that all of a sudden when everything has been working
great i copy data and then things slow down.

I have noticed in the past that if the antivirus program that you are using
scans all files on opening, the network files will be scanned on both ends
by the host and guest computers. You may need to disable the virus scan on
the computers for files stored at another location other than the local hard
drive.

The ipconfig from the server looks good. Look at the same from the workstations
and verify that the only DNS settings are for the SBS.... no ISP DNS anywhere.
If in doubt, put a copy up as before, but id it as a station.
