I definitely was, and it seems I just found the solution. Looks like the
successor task is not lined up sequentially after predecessor due to setting
non-zero value for "% complete" to successor. Once I set it back to zero it
works fine again.

Hi Strach,

Thanks for the update and the explanation of what was causing the
error. To clarify for anyone else reading along, when Strach
talks about a non-zero % complete, the issue was that once a task
has even 1% complete marked against it, the task also has an
Actual Start date. Once a task has an Actual Start date, it will
not longer respond to changes in predecessors. By setting the %
complete back to zero, you removed the Actual Start date.
