I don't know why they still offer them. My theory is that they have an arrangement with various hardware manufacturers and that the intent is to impose a sort of artificial planned obsolescence. Kind of like the way that my ancient Hewlett Packard 855C printer has slowed *waaaaaay* down because it no longer has internal fonts thanks to the XP driver. As a result, it has to print everything graphically. They tried the same thing in ME, actually producing a driver that made the output look like something from and prehistoric dot-matrix printer. It only took me a little while to figure out that the Windows 95 driver for the printer could easily be installed, restoring full original functionality for the printer.
