Hi all,

I had an offer thing from Misco this morning: Xerox Phaser 6110N for
99.99. Is this a good deal, do you think? Or would I be better off
going for one of the higher spec Phasers?

The only thing I would say is that it is a laser not a wax jobbie, and
if that's an ex-VAT price they're slightly cheaper here
<http://www.printerbase.co.uk/acatalog/xerox_6110.php#a8169>

I've used that company for a couple of years and not had any problems,
unlike Xerox themselves.

The Phasers that I've seen have been very good machines.
Xerox are complete wankers to deal with direct - very, very, dodgy.
BUT - their engineers do turn up and fix things when they're supposed
to, and when you want to throw a printer out they turn up and take it
away for free, which saves the cost of a skip.

Ah... well spotted. I am after one of the wax-based printers and hadn't
noticed that this isn't. I'll give it a miss, I think. The 8560N is the
one I was looking at before, but it's over 400. Maybe I'd better keep
saving for one of those.

Thanks, useful information.

We have three Xerox 8560DN printers and I wouldn't recommend them due to
the reliability when out of warranty. On two of them the LCD displays
seem to 'fade'; The display did recover temporarily on one of them, but
the problem doesn't appear to be the display itself as we have swapped
this out in the hope of getting more of them working. Some of the
features are available via the web interface but others such as cleaning
jets aren't. On one of them, some jets wouldn't clear and we have had to
junk it (the free disposal may come in useful); we can't resolve the
print quality problems on the second one due to the screen not working
properly, so that has had to be semi-permanently switched off and will
probably be junked as well.

It's a shame as the quality from these printers when they are working is
excellent, and there aren't any expensive drums or fusers to replace.

We've just bought an 8560N to replace our old 8200 and it is an
excellent machine, worth saving up for.
