From what I read on the Sheepish page is that it only supports up to 9.0.x. Something tugging at my memory suggests a reason for this but I haven't had enough coffee yet. You have a "new-world" PPC for sure. > 2. How to install the ROM image. t seems your ROM has to be version 1.6 or _less_. You could try extracting the ROM and putting it in ~/Library/Application Support/Sheepshaver. Alternately, try dropping it into SheepShaverGUI.app/Contents somewhere. Make a safety copy. Or try this: ~/MacOS/Mac_v1.6.ROM Obviously, you'll have to make a MacOS folder under ~/ -- W. Oates

It doesn't matter where you put the ROM file as long as you tell SheepShaverGUI where the ROM file is. You do that in the "Memory/Misc? tab. Really, I don't get why so many are claiming without documentation they can't get this working. It's painfully simple. All you need to do, really, is get a ROM, point SheepShaverGUI to that ROM, create a hard drive image file in SheepShaverGUI, and set your video resolution, then start it up.. -- Note: Please send all responses to the relevant news group. It sits in the SheepShaver folder. I can't recall exactly what I did to get it working, but my recollection is that it was easy. > > Unfortunately I can't make it work. How to install MacOS 9.1 {the one I would prefer}. 9.1 is defintely *not* supported. Some changes in memory management, I gather. Have you found the SheepShaver forum? It's at <http://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=20&sid=a0e22ca1ba24928 6fb37b238c69f32f7> unless this address contains some details specific to my machine. Everything seems pretty clearly explained in the forum. I did not get too far with making things work, because currently the only version of the OS I have came on a Disk Warrior disk, and that has limited functionality. But I certainly got to a happy Mac and an image that made sense. One of the oddities is that one gets a message that SS has unexpectedly quit, but in fact it hasn't, one just clicks the dialog box and continues working. -- http://www.decohen.com Send e-mail to the Reply-To address; mail to the From address is never read

The ROM file from 9.2.2 isn't supported. Also, I now know at least two methods to get a proper file. -- Per Erik Rnne http://www.RQNNE.dk |
