VisualHub. Looks a bit like this:

Works very well indeed - I've used it many a time. As previously mentioned I
have a backup .zip of it I found on t'internet (after the author open-sourced
it). 15Mb if you want it. Email is valid.

Cheers ... Mark

Well, after it was visualHub, it became FilmRedux and the source for
that, although abandoned is here:

Said mate also seemed to fall foul of picking the wrong file to
download because when I went round there with your printouts he said
he'd tried Handbrake and it asked him to pay?

I downloaded and installed he correct version and we were away. ;-)

As it happened he'd previously ripped the DVD's to ISO files but
couldn't see how to get them into iPod friendly format. I used the MS
ISO mounter thing and Handbrake to do the conversion (in we fact set
up a little queue of stuff to do (well, 3 things).

We copied the finished mp4 to iTunes and from there onto the iPod and
it played ok.

I asked him how many videos could you watch on one charge and he
suggested about 1? Is that right or does he need a new battery?

Laddo also has a PSP and said the battery is much better on that.

Time for an iPad methinks (and I can see them getting him one). ;-)

Cheers, T i m

My iPod 5th gen got about two-to-three hours of life when watching
video, so that seems about right.
