I thought that if VLC was installed, Handbrake would use it directly for
de-DRMing DVDs. I don't think you need Fairmount to take advantage of
VLC in this way.

You can if you're using the 32bit version of Handbrake. The 64bit
version looks for a 64bit VLC and fails.

MacTheRipper works for me on 10.6 on the MacBook and Intel mini.
Apropos a previous thread, Handbrake works well converting video for
the iPad. I converted a bunch of home movies and had great fun
embarassing the girls with their baby videos. I used the "AppelTV"
preset - is there a better one (or tweaks to the settings)?
