I have seen forums/newsgroup servers that banned attachment larger than 500Kbytes. But these restrictions could be defeated by splitting the files into trunks of 500Kbytes. Anyway, I think it's better to send your big file to file hosting services (e.g., zShare, SendSpace, HotFile, ...).
