Well, grandson is awake, so I can get to the MBP. That worked fine. But
then... So does the iG5. Couldn't connect to the server last night. Fine
now.

It *must* have been a long, long outage at Google- several days, as far
as I could see from here. But you could connect, in a slightly broken
way, last night. Mysterioso.

Never mind- and thanks for your help.

Can you go to it in a browser? It will probably say "The requested
URL / was not found on this server".

Something like that... But suddenly it all worked again, this morning.

There's been some sort of update; my copy wouldn't work yesterday but
it's back today - with Street View down my road for the first time.

Street view?

That'll be Google Maps then; it's been working perfectly well here
whenever I've tried it and yes, they updated Street View at the
beginning of March. I think they now claim 99% coverage. Looks perfectly
believable; I read the Arthur Ransome forums and rural locations that he
used, and houses in which he lived and worked, many of them deeply
obscure, are now visible in Street View. Wonderful...

But I've been talking about Google Earth, which uses the same database
but was unavailable to me for several days. Came back today. As far as I
can see, with no difference.
