[I have read all of your replies, as of this post.] When you say running the Fix It in, e.g., Aggressive mode "fails," do you mean the Fix It won't run/you cannot run it or the Fix It doesn't correct the problem? All of this "smells" like the effects of a hijackware infection, one that happened when you were running AVG. If such is the case, there's a very good chance that MSE did not install properly and is not working properly (despite what you may be seeing). 1.
