From: Nick Naym on 29 Oct 2009 19:10 I've been reluctant to move from Entourage to Mail.app in part because I can access NG messages in Entourage, but not in Mail.app. I like MacSOUP, but found its manual rather confusing, so that's been slowing me down. But there are two other items that have deterred me from making the move: the lack of the ability to reposition Mail.app's preview pane, and the ability to arrange the messages not only by date, but also by groups. I just found two free apps -- Letterbox and Widemail -- which apparently allow the former (not sure about the latter). Neither seem to be SL-ready as yet -- but after reading JR's comment on SL's lack of contextual menu support, and checking out its show-stopping effect on FinderPop (a favorite of mine), the SL disc that Apple sent me gratis this week likely will be staying on the shelf for a while. Any comments, opinions, or suggestions regarding Letterbox and/or Widemail (or, for that matter, MacSOUP's manual)? -- iMac (24", 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 320 GB HDD) OS X (10.5.8)

The preview pane can be resized by clicking on the bar which separates the list of mail from the preview and moving it upwards and downwards. The alternative to arranging mail by groups within Mail is handled by creating "smart" mailboxes and then clicking on the one you would like to see. -- James Leo Ryan --- Austin, Texas --- taliesinsoft(a)me.com

The thing that deters me from switching from Entourage to Mail is that Entourage is the best e-mail client that ever was for the Mac Full stop. Stability, easy-to-configure interface, ease of use -- especially the excellent filters. And the intangibles -- over time, the realization that Entourage simply provides a better user experience than Mail.
