Problem with simultaneous equations and unit vectors! The vectors u and v are given by u = 7i + 8j and v = 2i - 4j (i and j are unit vectors). x(7i + 8j) + y(2i - 4j) = 44j 7xi + 8xj + 2yi - 4yj = 44j (7x + 2y)i + (8x - 4y)j = 44j (7x + 2y)i = (44 - 8x + 4y)j i = j 7x + 2y = 44 - 8x + 4y 15... 13 Apr 2010 08:21
square roots in a finite field I have been trying to implement GNFS in Mathematica for quite some time but got stuck on finding the square root of a finite field. The example I have been following is in Section 5 of Matthew Brigg's "An Introduction to the General Number Field Sieve" which can be found at: http://scholar.lib.vt.edu/theses/availab... 13 Apr 2010 10:35
speeds in a Plutonium Atom Totality #594 Correcting Math I wrote in my last post: Now the speed of light is 299,792 km/sec and if it was a increment of the Fine Structure Constant then the next lowest available speed would be 297,633 km/sec. I never really gave it any thought as to the cosmos of speeds, having abandoned the Big Bang theory. In that theory, o... 13 Apr 2010 02:56

Einstein's famous equation E=mc2 is the only scientific formula known to just about everyone. The "c" here stands for the speed of light. predicting the speed of the neutrino, 297,633 km/sec using Atom Totality #593 Correcting Math Looks like I am the first physicist to notice that Physics has only one Natural fundamental speed, the speed of light, and that all other speeds are "local and situational." Except for when Tifft found redshift quantization. Now the Plutonium Atom Totality explains pi, and "e", and the fine- structure constan... 12 Apr 2010 14:47
help with trig manipulation? (cot formula, Brocard points) Hi, I'd be grateful for some gentle help with the following bit of trig manipulation. In the context of Brocard points, it appears that.. if sin^3(x) = sin(A-x)sin(B-x)sin(C-x) and A+B+C=pi, then cot(x) = cot(A) + cot(B) + cot(C). Trying to derive the equation from the two conditions, I got horribly bogge... 12 Apr 2010 14:47
