I found the page I was looking for, I certainly didn't like the results tho.<G> My old machine shows 36.3M Swapfile in use with a peak value of 38076416. Like I said, very old machine (1998 Chicony) 233 processor and 128 meg's of memory. Also, I am trying to use it on some "heavy duty" stock programs. All the applications open, but, as you can imagine they merely crawl. Thanks again, Steve

From: Gary S. Terhune on 17 Dec 2006 16:36 More RAM, less Swap File in use will greatly improve your performance. Both CPU and disk access are involved when the swap file is actually getting used, and the more you do the worse it gets. You end up with half or more of your system working hard to swap things in and out instead of doing the job at hand. I know, I'm working on a machine with similar characteristics, though at Windows XP levels. -- Gary S.
