And since this is a monospaced font medium (at least on my > system), I double space after periods and colons. I find sentences much easier to read (and to edit in xemacs) if ended with two spaces. And, yes, I too read this medium with a monospaced font. Martin

Yes, they're five DVD-Rs (4x, 4.7 GB Apple) and never used before. Almost all of the options were grayed in Disk Utility for the DVDs, both before and after downloading and installing Patchburn 4.0.1. Using your advice, I finally got a DVD's icon to appear on the desktop, but in Disk Utility the disk doesn't show up in the left panel that shows the Sony DVD drive. (It should show up under the Sony DVD drive listed there). The icon does show up in the desktop window in the left panel. It's titled, "Untitled DVD". With the DVD's icon selected,I dragged a file into the desktop window and selected "Burn Disk" from the pull-down menu. The progress bar appeared and moved, but then a message said, "This disk does not appear to be reliable. Discard it and choose a new blank disk Error code OX80020063." This happened now with both DVDs that I've tried. I tried ITunes but I don't see burning options there. Tony

Okay, disregarding Disk Utility, this is exactly what you should see. > With the DVD's icon selected,I dragged a file into the desktop window and > selected "Burn Disk" from the pull-down menu. Even if it's not, this is likely relevant: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2818498 As described in that thread, it could be a dirty lens, or you may need to burn at a lower speed or using a different brand of disc. I know you're using Apple DVD blanks, but you don't have a burner originally installed by Apple. > I tried ITunes but I don't see burning options there. You need to create a playlist first and burn from there.
