Hi,

Please can you help me?

I am having problems trying to send a word document (with a web site
hyperlink) and the same link in the message body of an email. The word file
is my CV and the link relates to my web site where examples of my work can be
found (i.e nothing dodgy, im just looking for a new job). The word document
has also been converted as pdf with the web site link. Both document links
work fine outside of outlook express.

The message will send (can see the progress bar), but it is not recieved and
does not show up on the virgin server? I have sent this to my self to proove
this. If i re-send the message without the word document, with the hyperlink
removed from the message body and only the pdf attached, it works fine?

I have enabled pop3 on the virgin server, used the recent virgin message fix
tool and un-checked "do not allow attachements" within oultook and still it
wont send the discussed message?

Please can you help me to fix this as i really need to send out my CV with
the web site link, thank you.

I am using:

@virgin.net (email account)
Outlook express 6
XP home service pack 2
Word 2002
adobe reader 9
avg free 8.5
windows firewall

Thank you,

Is the PDF file an attachment?

Is AVG configured to scan incoming and outgoing mail?

Yes, the pdf file is an attachment (with a web link in the text body)

AVG is configured to set to scan incoming emails only - i have also tried
turning this off and resending the message, but i makes no difference as the
message still does not arrive (with a word file attachement and a web link in
the message body)?

I dont think the pdf file is a problem as i can send and recieve these. It
seesm to be with word file attachements and web links with the message body.
Thus if i attach a pdf file with this combination it never arrives?

Thank you

AVG never gets its e-mail scanning hooks off your messages. Remove AVG and
then do a custom installation opting out of all e-mail scanning when it is
offered.

Uninstall AVG & reboot, then do a fresh install of AVG Free 9.0. [1] This
time select the CUSTOM install option and do NOT install (i.e., uncheck)
Linkscanner, Search-Shield, Active Surf-Shield, Security toolbar, or any of
the email scanning components.

• Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

================
[1] Or consider replacing AVG with Microsoft Security Essentials
(http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/default.aspx) or Avira AntiVir
(http://www.free-av.com/en/trialpay_download/1/avira_antivir_personal__free_antivirus.htm),
both free and much more reliable than AVG IMHO.
