I had the same concerns, and left it about a week (having spent only about a quid of call-time) before phoning for my PAC. I gave them some flannel about changing my mind about going to PAYG and they didn't put any obstacles in my way. Was even able to transfer the balance of the mandatory 10 PAYG top-up to my kids' Tesco mobiles via their 'ping-me-a-pound' service! Not sure about the Vodafone aspect of the query, and whether it's do-able of you've already taken out the new contract. David

I've ordered a T-Mobile PAYG Sim which comes with £5 credit on it and plan to do similar to what you did - port out of Voda, then ask for the PAC as quickly as they will allow it. Then use that when I order my new phone from Voda business. Not that I can make my mind up - was set on an HTC Tough Pro 2 but am now looking at their HD2 instead. Bonkers that Vodafone don't offer these handsets on consumer tarriffs - especially the HD2 which they sold for just 3 weeks before making it business only. Its NOT a business phone - would their just signed contract for the iPoo 3GS have anything to do with abruptly ditching the competition? Anyway, a bit of disruption for a week or so but its worth it to keep my number. Thanks Ian
From: Holly_Vodafone on 10 Jan 2010 05:54 Hi Ian, I work for the Vodafone Web Relations team and have just seen your post. First of all I apologise that you felt this process was necessary, hopefully im not too late. I have checked this out for you and we are able to port the number from consumer to business for you, no strings attached and it will save you this porting saga. This means you'd have your existing consumer number on the business account and the consumer would close. Please e-mail webrelations(a)vodafone.com with WRT 135 in the subject heading, please include the account number so we can find the details. All the best Holly Web Relations Vodafone UK
