Be careful of this advice.

What irritates me is that the "logout after ___ minutes idle" is
completely useless. The kids constantly (and me occasionally) get
busy with something else and the machine will alternate between

- do you want to close all applications and log out?
- the application ____ canceled logout

Yes, indeed.

Superduper has something like 'you are still connected to the
server, do you want to disconnect?'. On this one, there seems no
pref to avoid such a warning. I have yet to want to shut the
machine down without wanting to disconnect from the server. At
the very least, if I wanted to shutdown, I am almost certainly
wanting to disconnect from the server if something is not in the
process of being uploaded or downloaded. I think you will agree,
a few more smarts could be built in to all this, these machines
need to understand us better. They seem so... so... autistic! <g>

Could you please elaborate?

Holding down said key after initiating a restart allows one to choose
drives. What does it do selecting it before restart? What are the dangers?

The "Are you sure you want to restart your computer now?" dialog will not
appear.
