Sorry, we are are cross purposes. I was writing about the delay you get
when you select logout/shutdown/restart from the menu.

Back when I was experiencing power cuts I got used to hitting cmd-s in
MTNW to save my current context every now and then.

That's only because you must have the "Auto Save on Quit" Checked for
User Group Lists in the Saving Files Preference. If you uncheck this, it
will ask you if you want to save the changes when you quit.

There were some Macs, Performas I think, that were even bigger
and heavier! <g>
