I > wish I had to time to research this, alas, I do not. Hitler didn't execute officers for failure on the battlefield or disagreements. Guderian had bean sacked before for ordering a retreat on the Russian front against Hitler's explicit orders. Yet Hitler later brought him back. However officers were executed for being implicated in the plot to kill Hitler where he survived a bomb blast. It was following that purge of the army's high command that Guderian was appointed Army Chief of Staff. He had already been serving as Army Inspector General. When Hitler dismissed him as Chief of Staff, he told him to take 8 weeks off to recover his health. But the war was over and Hitler was dead in 6 weeks. Double-A > >> "Lovey-Dovey" and "Hitler"!
