This was before Pearl Harbour 9/11. Aeroplanes tend to be late anyway. Heathrow to Kennedy, get there too late to grab dinner, get on a B727 to Denver, only Sprite and a small packet of pretzels (but a lovely clever neighbour who gave me a friendly kiss when we arrived), onto the midnight bus to Fort Collins (nice driver who stopped at a seven-eleven store on the way so I could buy a sandwich); next morning do an interview then back on the bus.
