If you have ever seen normal banking software, a slate and a stick would
be an upgrade.

It's amazing what can be done with simple software though, in the
right hands.

Daughter has just edited some 200 photos and made an album for the
Mrs's 60th surprise birthday recently. Irfanview (basic picture
editor) and Windows Paint and she has managed stuff you would assume
only doable with the likes of Photoshop.

Stuff like adding the side to an entire scene that was cropped off on
the original photo (including an arm!) and more basic things removing
creases and general cleaning.

I wish we had known someone who knew Photoshop who could have taught
her as I assume some of the stuff would have been quicker and / or
easier using that?

I did send her a link to Gimp, it being free and possibly a stepping
stone between what she's used to and Photoshop but she didn't have the
time at the time to lose productivity.

The thing is she only needs to be shown once, and generally only the
core concepts at that and she's away. Unfortunately, like many of her
age / background (brought up with technical stuff) it's difficult to
get her to RTFM.

Cheers, T i m

It is, but this isn't simple software. This is quite complicated
software made many times worse because it was built entirely to
specifications.

ie: someone said 'here is a list of features that it must have, go and
write it'. It was written and every feature was ticked off one by one.

It is difficult to get almost everyone to RTFM which is why no-one
really WTFM any more!

That'll be it (the Window aspect). On a MacOS X machine if you control-click
a link that's surrounded by <>'s there's a very good chance it will work,
even if it's split over several lines.

It's an Agent failing, nowt to do with Windows per se.
